“Priorities cause of winning and loosing in sports, business, life.” – Fred Harteis

Priorities set people apart. Leaders never grow to a point where they out grow their need to prioritize.

Priorities are the cause of wining or losing in sports, business and life.

When we started our first Harteis Company we asked 3 questions:

1.)   What is required of us to personally achieve victory?

2.)   What gives the greatest return for our time and financial investment?

3.)   What brings the greatest rewards?

Many things catch our eye but there are few things that catch our heart. Nothing energizes a person the way passion does.

When we started in business 30 years ago I had a full time job and several part time jobs and was continuing my schooling. We answered the above 3 questions and decided to prioritize our time for long term gain, future focus if you will. The very 1st change that was required was to evaluate our time schedule. I decided to discontinue my schooling at the university, and quit all of the part time jobs.  This meant a reduction in income temporarily. Which wasn’t bad because we had minimal debt, and a low standard of living, that gave us flexibility.

The next 4 years we were vision focused with respect of where we were going. We need to focus on what we were going too not what we are going through. Constantly developing a plan then working the plan. A huge part of our strategy was personal growth. Their were no vacations for 2 years, we were on a mission to be victors not victims. In our daily planning we would ask, will these tasks or activities get us closer to our goals. We had to say no to several fun things temporarily, to invest our time and resources to achieve our goals. Daily everyone should write a list of the thing that need done tomorrow and list them in order of importance not convenience.  The results will satisfy and the rewards will be exceptional.
